Who is God?

God is one (Isa 43:10-12; 44:6-8) and has revealed himself in three persons, God the Father (Eph 4:6), God the Son (John 1:1-2; 10:30), and God the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26).   God has no beginning and no ending (Ps 90:2; Hab 1:12); is everywhere present (Ps 139:7-12); all-powerful (Gen 18:14; Job 42:2; John 10:29); all knowing (Ps 147:5; 1 John 3:20); unchanging (Mal 3:6; James 1:17); sovereign (Rom 9:6-26; 1 Tim 6:15); and holy (Ps 99:9; Isa 6:3; 57:15; Rev 4:8).  These attributes are intransitive or belong only to him.  Other attributes that are communicable or transitive include love (1 John 4:8); mercy (Ex 33:19; 34:6-7; Ps 51:1; Rom 5:8; Eph 2:4-5); and goodness (Ps 86:5; 100:5; Rom 8:32).
